Joshua’s practice is focused on getting businesses to where they need to be. He is driven by a burning passion for business, a commercial mind, and a thirst for challenge.

Joshua works closely with clients ranging from young companies to established SMEs, both local and overseas. He advises on a wide range of corporate matters, including unique joint venture arrangements, acquisitions, fundraisings, ESOP structuring and corporate structuring projects.

On the commercial front, he has advised on a number of franchising and licensing arrangements, a broad range of commercial arrangements, employment matters and online platform terms and conditions.

Having a deep interest in financial and investment technology, Joshua has also established himself in the financial services regulatory space. He frequently advises funds, crowdfunding platforms, e-payments service providers and virtual currency platforms.

Being an avid gamer for most of his life, Joshua finds time to keep up with team-based e-sports. Apart from that, he is always on the lookout for an evening of whisky and good conversation.

Joshua began his practice as a transactional lawyer at an award-winning boutique law firm, where he practiced for several years, giving him a solid foundation.

Before joining BlackOak, he was regional legal counsel for an e-commerce and logistics start-up with operations in over 8 cities across Asia.

Joshua’s passion for business was stoked in his early years in law school, where he took part in an intra-university business consultancy case competition, with his team emerging as overall champions.
